Anodized Aluminum vs Stainless Steel Nameplates

Anodized aluminum and stainless steel are the two materials most buyers compare for equipment nameplates and ID plates. Both are made in our own Shenzhen factory. This guide explains how each is marked and what to tell us so we can recommend one for your plate.

1. How each one is marked

How the mark is made Anodizing, chemical etching, screen printing or laser engraving; the mark sits inside the anodic layer rather than printed on the surface Chemical etching (deep-etched and enamel-filled), laser marking or screen printing
Color Anodized color options Natural steel with color-filled marking
Grades Aluminum, grade confirmed in the quotation 304 or 316 stainless steel, grade confirmed in the quotation

4. Tell us where the plate will live

Material, finish and marking should be selected for the intended environment. Tell us where the plate will be mounted and the conditions it will face, and we will recommend the material and finish. Service life is confirmed for your environment, not promised as a fixed number.
