Inspection and calibration tags

The whole value of an inspection tag is that the record stays attached to the thing that was inspected. We produce them with a fixed header (what the check is), a sequential control number, and a write-on area for the date and the inspector's initials — or fully pre-printed when your schedule is fixed.

Calibration labels work the same way on instruments and gauges: instrument ID, calibration date, next-due date, and a serial that ties back to your calibration register.

Lockout / tagout tags

Tags that stay on the isolation point while work is in progress. We produce the tag; we do not supply the lockout hardware itself. Standard formats carry DANGER — DO NOT OPERATE, a space for the name of the person who applied it, the date, and a sequential number so the tag can be signed back in.

Materials are chosen for the environment: metal where the tag stays permanently, durable write-on stock where it is applied and removed each time.

Gas cylinder and equipment status tags

Cylinder tags identify contents, status (FULL / IN USE / EMPTY) and the last check date. Equipment status tags do the same job on machines that get taken out of service.

Where the tag lives outdoors or in a washdown area, material, finish and marking should be selected for the intended environment. Service life is confirmed for the intended environment. Anodized aluminum is a common choice, with stainless where chemicals are involved. Pair them with permanent asset tags and equipment nameplates when the same plant needs fixed IDs alongside replaceable status tags.

A note on standards

Buyers often ask whether our tags are OSHA or ANSI compliant. Compliance depends on the wording, the colour, the size and how the tag is used on your site — none of which we control. What we do is produce to the exact specification you give us, including colour schemes and wording drawn from those standards. If you send us your site's format, we match it. We do not issue compliance certification.

Related plant ID products include valve tags and equipment nameplates.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can inspection tags be numbered in sequence?

Yes — sequential control numbers are standard on inspection and lockout tags. Batch size confirmed after data review. Send your starting number and increment.

Can technicians write on them?

Yes. We can leave a write-on panel that takes a permanent marker or a paint pen. Tell us which your team uses and we will match the surface to it.

Do you supply lockout devices as well as tags?

No. We produce the tags. The padlocks, hasps and valve lockout devices come from a safety hardware supplier.

Metal or plastic for inspection tags?

Metal when the tag stays on the asset permanently and lives outdoors or in a washdown area. Durable write-on stock when the tag is replaced at every inspection cycle. Many sites use both — a permanent metal ID tag plus a replaceable status tag.

Are these tags OSHA compliant?

We produce to the specification you supply, including wording and colours based on published standards. Whether the installed result meets a requirement depends on how it is used on your site, so we do not issue compliance certification.
